As we enter the new year, looks like designers are seeking an escape from land to aquatic motifs. The deep sea continues to offer many things at once: refuge and escapism, new resources, and a way of grappling with an uncertain future — just ask Burberry’s Riccardo Tisci and Donatella Versace. Sea creature, like starfish, took centre stage at Versace’s SS21 show alongside several other marine motifs. Not surprising that sea world pattern comes to be a trend for SS23. The oceans treasures are explored in Patternbank’s new seasonal underwater trend.
